DETAILED INFORMATION
Bright bars made from EN19 alloy steel are highly versatile and widely used in many industrial applications. A high-quality steel alloy, it exhibits excellent strength, toughness, and wear resistance. Bright bar made from EN19 has excellent mechanical properties, making it suitable for applications requiring high tensile strength and fatigue resistance.
EN19 alloy steel bright bars include iron, carbon, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. Carbon content ranges from 0.35% to 0.45%, contributing to strength and hardness. Manganese enhances hardenability, while chromium improves corrosion resistance. Vanadium and molybdenum enhance toughness, wear resistance, and temperature resistance.
The high tensile strength of EN19 alloy steel bright bar is one of its essential characteristics. With a minimum tensile strength of 700 MPa, it is suitable for heavy loads and stresses applications. EN19 bright bar can withstand challenging conditions and maintain its structural integrity due to its exceptional strength.
EN19 alloy steel bright bar is also known for its excellent toughness. It is suitable for applications that absorb sudden shocks and vibrations due to its good impact resistance. This property is essential, especially in indessentialuch as automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery, where components are subjected to dynamic loads.
Despite harsh operating conditions, EN19 bright bar exhibits good wear resistance, allowing it to withstand abrasion and maintain its surface integrity. This makes it ideal for gears, shafts, and other components subject to sliding or rotating motion.
Moreover, EN19 alloy steel bright bar can be effectively heat-treated to achieve desired properties because of its good hardenability. It can be quenched and tempered for optimal hardness, strength, and toughness.
Bright bar refers to the finish of the steel, indicating that it has been precision ground to achieve a smooth, shining surface. This finish enhances aesthetics and improves dimensional accuracy in applications requiring a superior surface finish.
Various industries use EN19 alloy steel bright bars. In the automotive sector, high-strength components such as crankshafts, connecting rods, gears, and axles are commonly manufactured from it. Heavy-duty machinery components, such as shafts, spindles, and couplings, are also produced using it. Moreover, EN19 bright bar is used to construct oil and gas industry equipment, such as drill rods and collars.
EN19 alloy steel bright bar is a highly versatile material with exceptional mechanical properties. Due to its high tensile strength, toughness, wear resistance, and good hardenability, it is suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. EN19 bright bar is a reliable choice for manufacturing components that require high strength, durability, and performance in the automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery industries.
Grade Introduction:
Generally supplied hardened and tempered in the tensile range of 850 – 1000 Mpa (condition T), EN 19 Bright Round Bar is a 1% chrome-molybdenum medium hardenability general purpose steel. Ultrasound and MPI inspections are performed on all 4140 Alloy Steel Bars we supply. The EN19 bright bar is a high-strength alloy—medium carbon steel of high quality. The EN19 black bar is one of the steel grades in the BS 970-1955 standard, which specifies wrought steels for use in mechanical and allied engineering. Good flexibility and shock resistance make the EN19 bar and EN19 flat bar suitable for applications with high loads, such as engine gearboxes. It is possible to machine EN19 square bar exceptionally accurately, which is why it is a popular material in the automotive sector. Oil & Gas industries also demand EN19 hollow bars. Due to its high strength, the EN19 steel bar is a great choice. EN19 rods are equivalent to AISI 4140 rods and DIN 1.7225/42crmo4 bars.
A bright round bar made of EN19 steel contains chromium and molybdenum. The EN19 welding rod belongs to the low alloy steel class. Round bars from EN19 have high fatigue strength, abrasion and impact resistance, toughness, and torsional strength. There are several ways in which EN19 black bars can be heat treated to give them a combination of properties. The hardness of oil-quenched and tempered steel is 28-34 HRC. The annealing delivery hardness of EN19 bright bars is less than 250HB. The tensile strength of EN19 round bars is 850-1000 MPa.

Heat treatment:
Steel is heated at 845°C, followed by quenching in oil. Before hardening, it can be normalized by heating at 913°C for an extended period, followed by air cooling.
Hardening:
The oil satisfies from a temperature of 85°C/88°C Celsius.
Tempering:
En19 alloy steel can be tempered at 205 to 649°C depending upon the desired hardness level. The hardness of the steel can be increased if it has a lower tempering temperature. For example, tensile strength of 225 ksi can be achieved by tempering at 316°C (600°F), and a tensile strength of 130 ksi can be achieved by tempering at 538°C(1000°F).
