EN18D Alloy Steel Round Bar

A round bar made of EN18 is fundamentally used to connect pipes in the middle.

They are also used as a socket in struggling pressure in Pressure Regulators. For making products such as front automobile axles, obverse axle beams, axle periodicals, crankshafts, and steering components, EN18D steel round bars are heat preserved and have 1% chromium. Several tests were conducted on the untreated and heat-treated EN18 round bars at 575°C and 220°C for 60 minutes each. Tests were performed on the untreated and heat-treated specimens for tensile strength, hardness, metallography, and Charpy impact strength. EN18 bars are used in vehicles, ships, airplanes, weapons, guided missiles, railways, pressure vessels, bridges, machine tools, and mechanical components with larger sectional sizes.

What is EN18D Alloy Steel Round Bar?

Due to their high tensile strength and low costs, steels are widely used in construction and other applications. As a result of carbon, other elements, and inclusions within iron, dislocations are prevented from occurring in the crystal lattices of iron atoms. Carbon contributes up to 2.1% of the weight of steel alloys. The amount and formation of alloying elements in steel, either as solute elements or precipitated phases, control steel properties such as hardness, flexibility, and tensile strength by slowing the movement of dislocations. Compared to pure iron, steel’s power can only be achieved at the expense of flexibility, which iron possesses in abundance.

Although steel had been produced in bloomery furnaces for thousands of years, its use expanded greatly after blister and crucible steel were developed in the 17th century. The Bessemer process began a new era of mass-produced steel in the mid-19th century. The quality of steel was then refined by Siemens-Martin and Gilchrist-Thomas processes. By reducing production costs and improving metal quality, further refinements in the process, such as basic oxygen steelmaking (BOS), largely replaced earlier methods.
