UNS S32205 Round Bars exhibit superior corrosion resistance and resistance to localized corrosion, such as intergranular, crevice, and pitting corrosion. Duplex steel round bars UNS S32205 have excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, high strength, and can withstand brackish or saltwater impact, along with a high level of surface roughness.

The UNS S32205 Duplex Steel Round Bars have a long service life and low maintenance cost. They are, therefore, suitable for many industrial applications, including oil and gas exploration and processing equipment, chemical and petrochemical processing equipment, marine environments, power generation, specialty chemicals, gas processing, seawater equipment, pulp and paper digesters, etc.

When annealing, S32205 Duplex Polished Bar contains approximately 40% – 50% ferrite. As the most widely used grade of stainless steel in the duplex category, Duplex Steel S32205 Forged Bar is often called the workhorse grade. 

With a dual or duplex microstructure, the Duplex Steel Uns S31803 Hollow Bar combines the benefits of ferritic alloys, such as corrosion resistance and tensile strength, with those of austenitic alloys, such as fabrication ease and corrosion resistance.

Although austenitic stainless steels are among the most versatile alloys, their corrosion resistance is overshadowed by a class of stainless steels known as Duplex. Duplex Round Bar manufacturers recommend these alloys because they are more corrosion-resistant than austenitic varieties. ASTM A276 Type 2205 Duplex Rod has a duplex microstructure, giving it access to ferritic and austenitic properties. Therefore, Duplex Stainless Steel Round Bars are significantly more corrosion-resistant. Nitrogen enhances this grade, making it more resistant to pitting. PREN values are lower than those of a Duplex 2205 Hex Bar. Pitting occurs in environments with higher chlorine ions, so ASTM A479 Duplex Rod is most likely used in such environments.

The Duplex 2205 Round Bar is also suitable for marine engineering applications due to its resistance to acidic solutions and saltwater. In some applications, chlorine-based chemicals, such as hydrochloric acid, are used, which will deteriorate any conventional steel grade. The use of Duplex Square Bar in chemical processing units, including hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, etc., appreciates its properties. Despite the high nickel content in the alloy, Duplex Flat Bars should not be used above 600°F.
